Das Nikon Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 D VR AF ED Objektiv ist das extravagante Kamera Objektiv für extravagante Nutzer. Das 1340g schwere Autofokus Kamera Objektiv sorgt mit seinem VR-System (Vibration Reduction) für eine Verwacklungsreduzierung und macht selbst bei schwacher Beleuchtung scharfe Bilder aus der Hand. Dadurch ist es möglich, das Motiv im Sucher präzise und ohne Verwackeln zu fokussieren. Aus diesem Grund werden selbst die schwierigen Aufnahmen bei Beleuchtungsschwäche oder Nacht scharf dargestellt. Das VR System kann zugunsten der Stromersparnis optional ausgeschaltet werden. Die ED-Glas Technologie (Extralow Dispersion) des Nikon Nikkor Objektivs beeinflusst die Schärfe und Kontraststärke der Aufnahmen zusätzlich und bietet ein Fotoerlebnis, wie es nur bei Geräten wie dem Nikon Nikkor Objektiv zustande kommt. Die Objektivelemente des Nikon Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 D VR AF ED sind mit einer Oberflächenbeschichtung verarbeitet, die die kamerainternen Reflexionen auf ein Minimum reduziert und damit einen bewundernswerten Farbabgleich schafft. Die Super Integrated Coating Technologie von Nikon dämmt die Reflexionen der Sensoren der Digitalkamera und ermöglicht deshalb prächtige Farbdarstellung, selbst bei den 17 Linsen in diesem Nikon Nikkor Objektiv. Der Fotograf profitiert von diesen Funktionen durch dadurch gewonnenen drei Blendenstufen. Die VR kann so angepasst werden, dass sie im Sucher abgestellt wird und keinen Strom verbraucht bei der Aufnahme jedoch die Verwacklung automatisch reduziert. Im Vergleich zu einem Objektiv mit selbigem Brennweitenbereich ohne VR-Technologie können bei dem Nikon Nikkor Objektiv bis zu dreimal längere Belichtungszeiten eingesetzt werden.
