Fits a very specific interface need
This interface is pretty good for what I use it for. What makes this interface unique is that it has AES I/O. It may be the only interface under $500 that has AES. I am using it to capture my mixes from a Crane Song Spider. I do not use the analog inputs so I cannot speak on the quality of those or the A/D converters. The D/A converters do sound pretty good. I do have a Lucid DA9624 that is about 10 year old converter technology that surprisingly still sound better than these newly designed converters. However, these are really good sounding. One disappointment is that the beautiful meters on the front panel can only meter the analog inputs, not the digital input or analog outputs. The unit is very well made. Just the DAC/headphone amp is worth the price. WOW!
The unit is easy to use and works fine on Windows 7, 10 and macOS High Sierra. I'm running it on Windows 10 at 64 samples latency and 192 kHz. At 80% on the CPU, it doesn't glitch. The pre-amps are quiet even on high gain, and the converters sound high-end. But what blew my mind is the DAC/headphone amp. I mean, this is the cheapest piece of Head-Fi equipment I own and it's the most impressive-sounding. I couldn't believe it. I was in awe. The space and air between instruments and layers of sound is impressive. The background is totally silent, and the stereo separation is eye-watering in realism. Even busy mixes sound musical and everything sounds in its own place. Music sounds new through this unit. I can't put it into words. Everything just sounds amazing! My old mixes sound as I ... I have never heard anything so special-sounding in my life. SERIOUSLY. This unit has a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC, but the implementation here in combination with the headphone amp makes all my headphones sound way better than with my other, more expensive DAC/amps. The Sennheiser HD 58X sound amazing, with superior clarity and dynamics, and even more the Shure SRH1840, which sound more holographic and with fuller bass. I recommend this for your Head-Fi needs, and you also have a low-latency recording interface with great-sounding pre-amps as a bonus. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. God bless you!

I've always had my own home equipment, but never had pre-amps that compared to the studios I worked in. I never had the cash. The Tascam UH-7000 is the missing link in the evolution of home recording. This makes my custom made large diaphram mic sound so sweet, and it makes my classic Sure SM58 pristine. I don't give a F**k about controlling the unit using the cyber mixer. The only thing that matters is the sound, and the UH-7000 has the sound with low floor noise and clarity that was previously only possible with pre-amps that cost more than your used car. Tascam has delivered and set a new benchmark bridging the gap between home recording and pro-studios.
