  • Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God (2005, DVD)

I have to say I enjoyed it quite a bit. The hero's consist of a Rogue, barbarian, fighter, cleric and wizard. Some funny moments involving the barbarian and the rogue were great. Special effects overall were fine. Nothing award winning but they did the job. The traps in the film were good, one in particular I absoletly loved. We got to see what happened when spells don't quite work out the way you expected them to (oh oh). We got to see more of the MM (Monster Manual) creatures in this one than the original (which was basically just a bunch of dragons). I got to see my favorite creature cause some havoc (Magmin). Now to put a rumor to rest. Damador is definately NOT a caster in this film. Though they do not say it outright there is a scene in the movie that hints heavily at this (btw I ...

  • D & D Movie....

While I admit that this isnt the greatest movie of all time, for an old gamer like myself it was a lot of fun. It didnt seem to take itself to seriously, while not just turn into total cheese. With all these multimillion dollar movies, blockbuster titles and big name stars, its good to remember why we watch movies (in my personal opinion ): fun, fun, and good fun. It remained close to the game, while making itself accessable to non gamers also. One complaint though, is the lack of character development. It seemed that certain characters were just fodder for the show, and one couldnt get to know that person as well as they might want. Beyond that, good clean enjoyment.

  • Is actually more like D&D the game than the last movie!

I own both of the titles in this series, and though the last one boasted Jeremy Irons as the main villian, I have to say that this movie holds its own. Granted the Production values are about half of the first movie and the story can sometimes border on the "my friends and I watch it just for a good laugh" side. But I think what endures this movie to me is how it mirrors the actual playing of the D&D table-top game. There is a rounded group of adventurers going to face a bad guy who is about to do something bad and each character adds something unique to the group. No matter what though, if you're a fan of fantasy or just love D&D, check this movie out!

  • Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God

This movie follows the plot line and character profiles from the RPG game by the same name. You have your kingdom under a death sentence by an evil wizard who was cursed as one of the undead and the heroes trying to save the day. Familiar character profiles of the Warrior, Cleric, Wizard (Mage), Berserker, Rogue fighting dragons, liches, goblins and other associated evil characters. Overall the movie is entertaining and the special effects fairly well done. At the end of the movie, the evil wizard is captured, the death dragon banished, the heroes recovered, but it doesn't leave much for a sequel.

  • They did it right this time!

They used the D&D books and tapped the wonderful minds at wizards. This is nothing like the first one – which sucked pretty badly. They recycled one character and made him better. They had good actors – no one is on the A-list but I liked it that way. The fights and effects were not LOTR standards but it wasn’t bad. The lich is great, the end is great ending to a campaign, and the adventures were characters I would have run myself. Watch this moving and pick out the little stuff – what the spells are, what weapons they have, the monsters, how the classes are portrayed. We had a blast. This was more like an adventure out of my group. Oh and watch the extra’s, its stuff you actually want to watch. I L-O-V-E-D it. See this movie! Please make more of them!
