    17-40mm vs 10-22mm ef-s

    I purchased the 10-22mm and wrecked it long before they were in the uk. The repair centre had lots of fun with my 2 halves. I am careful with my gear but the 2 broken ribs i received was nearly as painful as the repair bill. The 10-22mm has been my most used lense and i wouldnt part with it. Im wanted to do more wide angle stuff on full frame and the 17-40mm ticked all the boxes. Although it is an entry level L lense it still oozes all the qualities of a four figure Lense. Small light 77mm filter and it will hold its value. My only fault with this is the auto focus is slow. If i didnt own the 10-22mm and i wasnt taking fast action shots I probably wouldnt complain. My bet is when they release a series 2 this problem will be addressed. I would give it 5 stars if it wasnt for the focus ...

    Excellent lens. Quick and accurate focus. No barrel getting out when zooming, this makes it more solid but in a compact body.

    Superb medium zoom lens.

    Another superb quality lens in Canon's professional L range. While not truly wide angle on my 7D, sufficient to produce excellent quality images for landscapes and ideal for portraits! Will come into its own when I upgrade my kit to a 5D soon but versatile enough to operate on both cameras! Although bought second hand lens is in mint condition and was obtained for a bargain price!

    It is not the sharpest in the corners but only a nerd checks out the corners first before checking out the photograph. For a working photographer this lens is a steal :)

    It is worth every penny and the build quality is amazing.

    If you are looking for a better wide angle lens than your kit lens with fixed aperture, look no more. It is worth every penny and the build quality is amazing. The image quality is just perfect. Get an UV Filter and the lens becomes fully weatherproof and also protects the front element. It is the great substitute for the 18-55 or any standard zoom lens.
