Robert Rodriguez brings a new breed of antihero to the big screen in this hyper-violent adaptation of the "fake" trailer originally featured in the 2007 double-feature exploitation throwback GRINDHOUSE. Machete (Danny Trejo) is a former Mexican Federale who plays by his own rules, and doesn't answer to anybody. In the wake of a harrowing encounter with feared drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal), Machete finds himself in Texas, where the shadowy Booth (Jeff Fahey) offers him the opportunity to make some quick cash by assassinating the unscrupulous Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro). When the job goes awry and Machete realizes he's been set up, he turns to fierce taco queen Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), heavily armed holy man Padre (Cheech Marin), and trigger-happy socialite April (Lindsay Lohan) to show Booth that he just messed with the wrong Mexican. But before they can get to Booth, Machete's gang will have to contend with blade-wielding ICE agent Sartana (Jessica Alba), who never met an adversary she couldn't flay.

This movie is rather gory in some parts, but is a good movie if you're into slasher action. If you're a fan of Danny Trejo, this is definitely the movie for you, as he is the star 'Machete' and kicks plenty of but in this movie! You also get Jessica Alba and Steven Seagal playing supporting roles in this movie. Some of the scenes might be campy or overblown to some, but to me, it just adds some charm. Well, as much charm as a violent movie can have, at least. Plenty of explosions, shoot-outs, and confrontations make this a movie that you shouldn't be bored of.This movie is rather gory in some parts, but is a good movie if you're into slasher action. Machete, great cast, so-so film
Machete started off with a decent plot, bad guy with drug operation looking to destroy the good agent to make his drug dealings more profitable. The cast for this movie is one of the best. Danny Trejo, Steven Segal, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Robert De Niro, all played very good rolls. Don Johnson and Cheech Marin played opposite their more famous characters, one an officer of the law and the other a hippie. I liked the early action sequences and the movie did deliver on action. The fight and gun play scenes were very good. However, some where in the middle of the movie a comic aspect began to unveil itself. From this point on I couldn't take the movie with the same excitement as when it began. This classic action packed movie has a pleasantly restrained amount of God and blood. The action keeps flowing, and keeps your interest, but doesn't strain your brain. Enjoy.
