To those who love Amelia Earhart, there can be no better title than her first name.

I have read the reviews for this movie, both professional and otherwise, and I have to say that I am shocked at the behavior of the majority who have rated it. Roger Ebert had it right. This is a well written, well directed, well acted, well edited movie, one that capably tells the story of Amelia’s life. Those who wish it packed more punch should understand that in a film if this length, it just isn’t possible to show all of the story aspects that they would have liked. In fact, this is an excellent movie. I think it is the best of the Amelia Earhart film narratives.

  • True to live drama about Amelia Earhart

Hilary Swank (Boys Don't Cry & Million Dollar Baby) stars with Richard Gere (An Officer and a Gentleman & Pretty Woman) in this Documentary type drama about the live and loves of Amelia Earhart. Any one who knows history is familiar with the tragic story of Amelia. One of our Nations finest Aviators who's sudden disappearance in 1937 sparked a world wide search and subsequent mourning after it became clear that she would never be found. This has not stopped speculation that Amelia somehow did not die during the flight and landed somewhere and went on to live to an old age. (There was even one women who claimed to be her, but that turned out not to be true). The movie was not well accepted by critics when it was released in 2009 however it does portray a very good likeness of the life of ...

  • Good, but not fulfilling

Hilary Swank is outstanding in this bio-pic, and Richard Gere delivers his usual workmanlike performance. The cinematography and sets are also realistic and give a feeling of thirties. The story itself is compelling, but several aspects are glossed over. Earhart's devotion to feminine causes and her decided lack of femininity in the traditional sense are not emphasized enough. Her strongheadedness is, but it was in a certain direction, and while the movie does leave viewers with a sense of a person trying to do her best in her own way, it doesn't quite ring true enough because of that lack of emphasis. The part that is most intriguing about Earhart's story is, of course, her final flight and the mystery surrounding her disappearance. The relationship with Noonan was somewhat misleading ...

  • Nice biographical film

Having just visited Atchison, KS, (birthplace and childhood home of Amelia Earhart), I was interested in seeing the movie. I think that the actors' portrayals were very good, particularly Hilary Swank's and Richard Gere's. As far as I know, the biographical film was pretty factual. With tiny glimpses of Earhart's childhood and youth, the movie jumps right into her adult life and career/passion. It seemed to portray the characters well, and I learned a little more about Earhart's life and times. I'm glad that I bought it.

  • Captures spirit of AE!

Movie captures the spirit of Amelia Earhart . Took my 10 y/o daughter to see movie in 2010: she is still inspired by Earhart’s courage and career. Great movie about a great American lady!
