    the BEST JANE EYRE

    of course in my opinion. Follows the book, long enough to develop the story. Wonderful set and production. The characters are sufficiently homely to adhere to the descriptions in the book and the acting is wonderful. The next best Jane Eyre is the Orson Welles version.

    Old, but excellent version of a favorite classic tale!

    I absolutely loved this film! I have all the more recent versions of Jane Eyre, and when I read some other viewers' comments on this older version, I decided to invest in a copy of it. It is probably the most true to the book of any of the versions I have watched. I liked how by both Jane and Mr. Rochester were portrayed by the leading actress and actor. I also liked the way the the film added more depth to Jane's feelings by having several times when the film told us what she was thinking (again in much the same words as the book). I have watched this version three or four times already, and one time I actually got my book and sort of followed through the book as I was watching the movie! (My alltime favorite version is the new version with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson - Masterpiece ...

    One of the best interpretations of the book.

    I own other movie interpretations of Jane Eyre and this - by far - has the most accurate quotes and depth of the work, as it was written. Though not well known, the actors give credible acting performances. If Sorcha Cusack appears familiar to you, she plays the housekeeper on the current Father Brown mystery series. The dvd was as described, arrived quickly and was well packaged. Thanks.
