About this product

Product Information

Popeye may not eat spinach in this platform game, but he does punch it. Based on the “Popeye” arcade game, the original NES game differs from other platformers by the lack of a jump function. Popeye can climb ladders and punch everything from enemies to cans of spinach, but his feet are stuck securely to the surface. During play, you journey through the levels, picking up various items that Olive Oyl leaves behind. What makes this really unusual is that Brutus can jump, even though Popeye can't. Much like Pac-Man, Popeye cannot directly attack Brutus unless he has just had his spinach.

  • Popeye for Nintendo Entertainment System

My enjoyment of classic video games far exceeds the fun I have playing modern video games. For one, classic video games that are cartridge-based (instead of CD- or DVD-Rom) seem to last forever, so I still have working games that I bought in elementary school. The cartridges merely require occasional cleaning. Second, due to the lack of 8+ button controllers and insanely good visual effects, classic games are more fun to play, because you can learn to play them immediately and they don't rely on visual masturbation to entertain the players. Donkey Kong is one of my favorite games of all time, and I currently have the 6th highest score for Donkey Kong on the Nintendo (validated by Twin Galaxies). I remembered a friend of mine had Popeye when we were kids, but I never really played it. ...

  • I love this game i never got to play it
