Get in the Mood for a Creepy old Gem
Here we have a rare sleeper from 1963 done in a black and white style predating the horror magazines of the 60's/70's. It's a tantalizing tale of sick sorcery with just the right twist of bitter lemon at the end... low budget was very effectively overcome with bizarre before-it's-time imagery. Camera angles, tightness of shots, creepy overall atmosphere is surprisingly sustained throughout. A lot is left to imagination- that beard -to keep the characters interesting -those eyebrows- to pop a comic-book story onto the screen. Filled with eerie moods offset by great unintentional humor. Best of Its Genre
Dead of Night, The Devil Doll (with Lionel Barrymore), & the two TV Twilight Zone episodes dealing with the pitfalls of ventriloiquism (mainly, personality transference between the ventriloquist and his dummy) are pretty scary, but this movie nails it in terms of Good vs. Evil.

I saw this movie many years ago and I have remembered the devil doll dummy all this time (very scary). I recently told my girlfriend about the movie and decided to see if I could find the title on the internet. After a little searching, I found the name of the origional movie and that it was available on DVD. I ordered it and I am very happy with it. The plot came back to my memory and I was surprised that the movie was not corny like so many of the older horror films. The quality and packaging of the DVD is excellent.
