Rob Zombie's Halloween
This version of the Halloween Michael Myers story is definitely more gory than John Carpenter's version. I like this version but I miss Jamie Lee Curtis as his target. The thing I really like about this version is that Annie is played perfectly by an adult Danielle Harris. Definitely not a kid friendly movie but the grownups will like it.

Surprisingly good...
...as the last Rob Zombie film that I bought (without first seeing it at the theater) was a 'major stinker'; however, he did a very good job with this remake of the original Halloween horror cult classic! Zombie also brought forth more continuity to this version of the film which answered a few questions which had been left unanswered throughout the original series of films, as well as allows the viewer to experience in depth why Michael had in fact developed into what he had eventually become - pure evil! Michael 'Mikey' Myers, was a young boy who came from a broken home...with an abusive lazy stepfather, a mother who works as a stripper at one of the local clubs, an older sister who is self-centered, and his infant sister Laurie with whom he only appears to have formed a close bond ... ...as the last Rob Zombie film that I bought (without first seeing it at the theater) was a 'major stinker'; however, he did a very good job with this remake of the original Halloween horror cult classic! Michael is also portrayed as having a morbid curiosity with killing and the death of animals and we also see him as the daily tormented target of his school bully. Then one Halloween day during school, Michael completely 'snaps', and already having been subjected to so much 'interior and exterior evil' (per Dr. Loomis' diagnosis), Michael becomes a 'true psychopath', and thus, the murderous legacy begins. BTW, in this version, we actually see Michael brutally murder Laurie Strode's foster/step-parents...as opposed to just learning of their demise resulting from some auto accident as alluded to during one of the original film's sequels. I'm glad that Zombie preserved John Carpenter's original soundscore (OSS) within this film, as it's piano interlude (main title theme) is a true integral part of what made the original film such a cult classic. I am also glad to see Danielle Harris return (you might know her as Micheal's niece Jamie from the original film's sequels - "Jamie's uncle's a bogeyman"). This time the pretty and all grown-up Danielle plays the part of Laurie's best friend Annie who also falls victim to Michael's knife weilding...though it appears that she may not have succumbed? Also, Rob Zombie makes a cameo performance...this time as the cemetery's caretaker. :) Again, I was quite surprised to see that this film was actually done quite well with leaving the storyline preserved, yet also adding more continuity to the original film's premise...especially considering that this was a Rob Zombie remake. Well done Rob!

UNRATED Directors Cut - A "Good" Zombie Thriller
We were expecting a little more from Rob Zombie, but overall this was a "good" thriller. It offers a lot of blood scenes(some graphic), and kind of combines all of the original Halloween films into one. It starts out with Michael as a child, and includes his range of horror as an adult, and goes into detail of his mental condition. It wasnt as gruesome as we had expected from Zombie, but it was good. It was better the second time we watched it. A GOOD MOVIE to buy! I LOVE Rob Zombie! He took this movie and made it his own. I loved seeing Michael Myers as a young boy. Showing how his family life was really made the movie. You always kinda wondered how he got so evil, and now we know. I went to see this movie the day it came out and purchased the DVD as soon as it came out too. It is one of those movies you can watch over and over. It is scary and suspenseful, thrilling and a bit humorous at times. I liked seeing all the actors from Rob's other movies thrown in this one here and there. Michael Myers is one of the inanest villains of them all. Of course we are all wondering if Michael is really dead this time. Will he return to Haddonfield one more time? The movie tells the whole story of Michael awful life and how he loved his little sister and just ... I LOVE Rob Zombie! He took this movie and made it his own. Good remake, good casting
At first I was a little confused. Most of the cast was in the other films by Rob Zombie, so I thought I got a sequel to one of those. Anyway, the background of Michael was a little quick in the beginning, but acceptable. Enough explanation and foretelling without losing you. Then in the asylum, with the daily interviews by the doctor, was at a snails pace and I almost dozed off. This came to an abrupt, but welcome end and off we go, Michael at his best. The body count rises, the boobs and full nudity is aplenty. The cast is filled with some former A-list and solid character actors, so it has some decent acting ability all around. Overall, it was very good. I'm going to purchase it when on sale or on eBay at a great price.At first I was a little confused.
