    Peeking into the roots of the Lord of the Rings

    If you are interested in the unique development of the Lord of the Rings story, this is a truly detailed background work. Christopher Tolkien carefully unfolds his fathers ideas and struggles with the story, working always toward the published novel. Only the patient reader will glean all the intricate issues JRR had to deal with, as he wrote, rewrote, and rewrote again. One gets insight into the rigors behind creating a masterpiece.
