A Place for Annie, staring Sissy Spacek
As with most movies I ahve purchased recently, the first thing I looked for the Hallmark Hall of Fame distinction. I have found HHofF consistently delivers a wonderful story, that is realistic & in which the characters of the story have real relationships. There is little violence, swearing, or sex. If such is needed for the story, it is either referred to in dialog, or only just a quick "blip". They are also consistent in time - right around 100 minutes. They are made for network broadcast, in a 120 minute time-slot; with commercials mostly also Hallmark, for the cards. The second reason I purchased this movie was the combination of the story-line & the actors/actresses. I was very familiar with Sissy Spacek, from seeing her perform in "Badlands" with Martin Sheen, and then ... I was very familiar with Sissy Spacek, from seeing her perform in "Badlands" with Martin Sheen, and then protraying Loretta Lynn in "Coal Miner's Daughter". I loved S. Epatha Markerson from the PBS game-show "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" & "Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego" & as the secretary to the Chief of Detectives in "The District". I have heard the name Joan Plowright & recognized her as an actress of my mother-in-law's generation. I also have seen Mary-Louise Parker in movies I can't think of titles to riht now. The story is of an abandoned HIV-Positive baby abandoned by her drug-abusing mother at the hospital where Susan, Sissy Spacek's character works as head of the Critical Care Unit. Nobody wants to take a HIV-Positve bby home to foster. Susan does. When Annie is two, Susan starts adoption preceedings & Annie's birth-mother comes back to claim Annie. Susan, being a foster parent has no rights to Annie. Susan finds a compromise & has Annie's birth-mother, Linda live in her home. Linda goes into the hospital for a period of time & signs her rights as a parent to Susan, knowing she is dying. There is one surprise left in the movie that I am not going to reveal. Who can refuse this beautiful little blonde-haired sweetheart, named Annie? The nickname only closest family members call me is "Annie" & she looks a lot like I did at that age. Get this movie - I enjoyed it completely; I think you will too.

a very heartwarming Dramatic perfomance
This movie touches me so much every time I see it. It stars Sissy Spacek, Mary Louis Parker Mary Louis parker plays a woman who has aids and just is not there for her baby Annie like she should be. Then there is Susan aka Sissy spacek who is a nurse and has fallen in love with Annie so she adopts her. 1 year later Annie's boilogilal mother shows up out of now where and this is what really pisses me off she thinks she has the right to try to take her baby away from the only mother Annie has ever known. Susan invites Mary Louise Parker to live with her at the end Annie's real mother goes away because she does not want her daughter to see her die. I belive if you are able to have a child then you take care of that child you dont leave him or her somewhere and think you have a right to just ... This movie touches me so much every time I see it. As substitute teacher in a high school, I was at first wondering about the chanllenge it would be for the students watching. A sympathetic nurse sees a dear baby at risk with the possibility of having AIDS. Not wanting her to live or die alone, she imposes the baby on her own household and then the birth mother wants the child. It has an interesting way of inspiring alternative decision-making.
