Great movie. This DVD has very poor video quality (looked like it was dubbed from a VHS tape). I would look for another edition.

Feels like Hitchcock
People who like CHARADE compare it favorably to the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Those who don't like CHARADE criticize it as a Hitchcock rip-off. Personally, if I did not know it was directed by Stanley Donen, I would 100% believe this is a Hitchcock film. It resembles TORN CURTAIN in that the heroine gets unwittingly and unwillingly involved in international espionage because the man she loves has not been honest about his career. CHARADE is a bit more light-hearted than TORN CURTAIN, so it is not as frightening despite a high body count. Logically, as the film ends and Cary Grant reveals yet another deception, Audrey Hepburn should run in the opposite direction...but then, few women would run from Cary Grant. The scene where a fat woman must transfer an orange from the crook of her neck ... People who like CHARADE compare it favorably to the films of Alfred Hitchcock.
