Get the Silent Hill ones, a little different than other horror games

Wow! I can actually play well with this one. An old friend I think had it years ago, and I just watched then. Thank you that you had it for me to buy

  • If you like the first 3 SH games, you will like this one. Buy it.

Good game so far, true to silent hill series. Only drawback is, monsters are somewhat easy to kill at first, you just have to keep hitting buttons but as the game progresses, levels and monsters get waaay harder and the button mashing method will not work. Second drawback is, game has no real exploration. Once you get into an area, there is only one way to go. All doors are locked except for the ones you need to go through, so there is no real "surprise". Only a few areas to "get lost" in. Makes finding way through buildings kind of a no brainer. All in all, the game is dark, scary and stays true to the heart of SH series. I quite like it On the other hand, there is still lots of exploring to do and there are tons of startling moments where I was truly scared. Game is dark and characters ...

  • Behind you...

After playing through Homecoming for the first time I found it to be a little different from past Silent Hill titles. One of the more noticeable differences was how they made it look a more like the movie that came out in 2006. If you have played previous Silent Hill games and have seen the movie then you will see what I mean. There were real time changes over to the other world and certain enemies acted like they did in the movie. The combat system also had a complete overhaul. No longer do you just swing with the same attack over and over again. It seemed like I had to dodge more in this game than previous ones as well and the enemies behaved how you would expect them. If you turned off the light, nurses would actually stop coming at you! Besides the occasional dark screen glitches and a ...

  • Not a great game, but a good one.

Like the rest of the Silent Hill series, Homecoming is more about atmosphere than anything else. The combat is still clunky (but better than earlier games), it struggles and gets choppy displaying graphics that aren't very good by current standards, and the humans look like they're carved out of wax. I think fans of the series will be happy with Homecoming because it delivers more of the same dark town and creepy monsters they've come to expect. Someone who had never played a Silent Hill game before might think it seems very outdated compared to games like BioShock and Prey. It's like an interactive horror B-movie. Play it with the lights out and don't be disappointed when some of the details are a bit goofy.

  • Comes up short in both time and expectations.

This was my first foray into the Silent Hill universe, so I can't say I am a fan. I thought I'd delve into it after catching the feature film on TV, which was so out there I thought it had to be a great video game. Unfortunately, although the game was just as bizzare and creepy as the movie, it was as far-fetched as the movie almost bordering on ridiculous. However, the only thing this game has in common with the movie is the town of Silent Hill; it's a completely different story altogether. This game is like Resident Evil on acid (if that were even possible)and I like RE. The CG is passable--barely; the controller action is very good and the graphics respond well to it but the story graphics are poor and the characters look lifeless like maniquins. As far as gameplay is concerned, it's ...
