  • The Red Shoes at its very best!

This film must've been incredible in it's time and it still stands up very well now. Just a few days ago I saw a television commercial which stole from this film-the dancing newspapers. The dancing is wonderful. Moira Shearer delivers a marvelous performance. Anton Walbrook supremely portrays an absolutely evil character as Lermontov, director of the ballet. He cares only about the performance. People are only his toys, to be used to accomplish his goals at their expense. The rest of the cast is a very admirable job. • Good update

This movie has one of my favorite ballets. The ballet makes the movie. Superb dancing by great dancers. The special effects in the ballet are great even now, especially when one looks at the date of conception. This is a classic example of ballet for cinema at it's best. The story line of the film is good but not as good as the ballet. Camera and costuming is great. Acting is very good. It's the ballet in it that is a "has to have". I still love it after years of first seeing it.
