Australian television was considerably brightened by the arrival of PRISONER CELL BLOCK H in 1979. Although the activities in a women's prison might sound like grim subject matter, the show carried a neat dose of kitsch value, thanks to some poorly constructed sets, and storylines which were often unfathomable. But this was coupled with an innovative--and daring for the time--use of lesbian characters, violence, and drug mishaps. Presented here are some of the best episodes from the show, beginning with four installments from the early days, which helped establish some of the key characters. Secondly, a major plot development is ushered in via a terrorist siege that took place in the prison, and finally the conclusion of the show is rendered in dramatic style, with a huge riot breaking out. Fun and dramatic in equal measures, PRISONER CELL BLOCK H attracts a hardcore legion of devotees who will doubtless be delighted with this 25th anniversary celebration of the show.

    Prisioners: Cell Block H

    A decent preview of random episodes of this famous series. You can watch the entire series, with 692 episodes, on You Tube. I am up to 55 episodes now and am totally engrossed in this well done Australian Soap Opera !!! Good song at the end of each episode, (On The Inside)...

    Cell Block H In the USA - Thank You!!

    I watched Cell Block H many years ago - Awesome. This is a good DVD, but I wish they could come out with complete seasons in the USA. Why not? The show was hot here. I wish they would've included the episode when Bea got her memory back. That was one of my favorites. still for any lover of Cell Block H that hasn't seen it in many years this is a true treat.

    Prisoner Cell Block H

    I used to watch this on Ch 5 in Wash,DC every night at 11pm, I never missed! After I moved to NC I never saw it again,then one day out of curiosity I did a search on Ebay...guess what?...IT WAS THERE!! I love Maggie Kirkpatrick she is a class act, and the theme song alone was enough to make me buy the set, sung by Lynne Hamilton..I could not be more pleased, after I buy the entire series ALL the gaps will be filled in...TWO THUMBS UP!     Prisoner Cell Block H 25th Anniversary Edition Vol. 2

    I really liked how it told the stories of why the women went to prison. It was like a soap opera in some ways, It did get a little crazy at times, but the characters seemed so real, like average people. I watched the show when it was on TV, which is the reason I bought it. As I watched it I felt like it was on just yesterday, I started remembering all the stories. I wish the whole collection was available in America,on DVD I would definitely buy it.

    Fantastic!

    I used to watch this series back in the early 80s when it was reruns on channel 11 (WTTW. I fell in Love with Karen and Lizzie and looked forwards to seeing them and the others on the episodes every night. When the series suddenly disapeared and all thye TV guides would answer was that it may return, just keerp watching the listings, but nothing else was said. I would order every episode, if they were available. Thanks so much!
