About this product

Product Information

A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger's cinematic storytelling that makes the novel's unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant. An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler's Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.

Luv this item. Came exactly as described. Incredible seller. It was packaged with such care - layers of bubble wrap and vintage 70s wrapping paper and fabric that on itself was a keeper and so special to unwrap with one wonderful layer after another until I got to the Palladini poster on plywood - exactly as described :). Also, nice thank you card and great communication from seller as well. Thank you,

    Very good

Obviously being a book, there is much more detail and insight to the characters, than the film. Switching first person accounts by both Henry and Claire make it an unusual by fun read. It details many more time adventures than the movie as well. One small matter — because of the first person story telling, a lot of the “he said or she said” is omitted so it gets confusing sometimes which person is speaking during conversations.

  • The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Neffenegger

This book starts out a bit disoriented, or maybe its just me since this author writes with such incredible, unique imagination. However, after about a quarter of the way into the book, I found myself so involved in the book I did not want to put it down! I have not finished it yet, but this is one that I highly recommend reading BEFORE seeing the movie, as some friends have said the movie is good, but somewhat confusing in parts. If you read the novel, then it will give you more of the time frame, even if the main character in the book is different ages in the same scene. Sounds confusing, right? It is, but that is what makes this title so enriching, and sucks you right into the story. If you loved the movie 'Somewhere In Time' which was a beautiful movie, this will more than likely ...

  • Yes It's a Love Story with Scifi... But a Real Good One

I read a review about this book when it first came out on Scifi Weekly (before they changed their name), and thought it was interesting. Then a co-worker of mine read it and adored it - which intrigued me so I bought her and I copies. I have to say that this is a love story - and I am not a fan of them. However, this love story was intriguing and enjoyable - it brings up the ideas of fate and destiny, and the time traveling could be used a metaphor for how unpredictable relationships are. I recommend this book for anyone with an open mind to a combination story - love and scifi (which don't always go together).

  • Literally, a new twist to a 'timeless' tale of love

An exhilirating, deeply touching book that will draw you in and won't let go. It's a unique tale about Henry and Clare, whose unusual meeting paves way for a highly romantic and unforgettable story about life and love. Clare first meets Henry when she is six and he, thirty-six, but the first time Henry meets Clare is when he is twenty-eight and she is twenty. The story interweaves the notion of time-travel and uses it as a tool to make a truly memorable story of love. Both Henry and Clare are bound together by knowing that they are meant to be. They feel for each other, but it is intensified by them knowing that their future is there and it is all planned out. The books narrates the story of their lives as told by Henry and Clare, taking turns in telling their story - giving their own ...

  • fantastic book

i'd borrowed this book of my friend a long while ago, and was suddenly taken with the urge to read it again. it is essentially a very beautiful and very true love story, starring henry and clare, if more than slightly unorthodox. it gives us a glimmer of the hope of what it is like to love someone, essentially, for all time. it is very beautifully philosophical in many places, as well, and for me made me wish once more that i was able to embody characteristics from a piece of fiction. you might find some of the initial pieces odd, and it is somewhat confusing to have the time-space continuum so jumbled up, but as i'd mentioned before, this isn't my first time reading it, and it is the kind of book that just gets better with re-reading. although not wildly philosophical, it does raise a lot ...
