    At 2200 feet of elevation the Proctor Silex boils a cup (8ozs) of water in 43 seconds and a rolling boil in 57 seconds. My 40+ year old 400 watt ABBOTT Hotpot is still working great, however, it is slow (8oz of water boils in 3.5 minutes ). It works great for the RV when running on solar but at home I want to get the job done quickly. Enter the Proctor Silex. At 1000 watts it’s not the highest output hotpot, (some go as high as 1500-2000 watts) but you also avoid the melting hot smell from over heated plastic, flaking and white sediment and high prices found with a metallic hotpot ($9.69 vs $69.99). So my wallet influenced my buying decision and I am very pleased the outcome. One slight gripe. You have to plug and unplug the hotpot to cut the power. There is a temperature control knob but ...

    Perfect pot that cooks or heats anything

    It’s perfect in every way: lightweight, lids comes on & off easily, cools down quickly, heats contents faster than a gas stove & an electric stove that takes forever. It is stout on shape so it can be stored away in smaller spaces. Has a cord just long enough so it’s not too long thus creating a tripping hazard and not so short that it doesn’t reach the outlet like some pots. Love it!
