About this product

Product Information

“The Dreamers” is a film about three young people discovering life's great pleasures, bonding over their love of movies and exploration of their sexuality. The NC-17 version of this film captures the passion and curiosity of its lead characters in just the way Academy Award winning director, Bernado Bertolucci intended. Starring Michael Pitt, Eva Green, and Louis Garrel, “The Dreamers” follows three university students as they spend an intimate month together feeling inspired by their film studies course and infatuated with each other. Taking place in France in the 1960's, the film honors the culture of that time and features raw conversations about politics, sexuality, and activism. Together, they lost in these discussions, act out scenes from films they're studying in their courses, and engage in dares. Special features on the disc provide greater context, examining the history and politics of the late 60's.

The sexual exploration of young radical film buffs in late 60's France

Interesting movie. It could prove tedious and pretentious if you can't stand art school talk. It captures the spirit of 60's France's infatuation with American cinema and the political turmoil of the time. (It's also a showcase for young, nude, beautiful bodies.) Kinda cool, if you accept it on its own terms.

  • Different type of movie , eccentric for youth

The movie is bout an American studying in Paris . He meets.a brother and sister who were part of the activist at the time of censorship of movies. The three form a dysfunctional bond. Interesting to say the least. Great DVD for a collector such as I z

  • Fascinating Movie

I knew that there would be lots of sex, nudity, and some language- so if you don't like that sort of thing this is NOT A MOVIE FOR YOU! but the movie itself was cultural, historical, and i loved it! Movie takes place in Paris, France with 2 Parisians and an American. It's interesting to see how they meet, mix and become close friends! The movie was not one you'd just guess up front and shocked me a few times... worth watching, if this is your sort of thing...(NC-17 version watched, but R version on its way to me now...)

  • The Dreamers (2004,DVD)

I have seen this movie several times, and it is accurate to the time 1968 in France. The movie has strong sexual content, so you do not want the kids watching it. The soundtrack is excellent. The cast is young and talented. The characters are hooked on cinema and act out fantasy scenes from the movies and play teasing sexual games. if you are easily offended skip this movie otherwise enjoy.
