Self-explaining title.
This is a good album for historians of rock and serious punk-rock enthusiasts. This album is not for the faint of heart,I would even say that these songs may be too much for a lot of people that consider themselves hardcore. Sparse, minimal, thrash. And that is just the recordings. The liner notes are informative and give a real sense of the culture and ethos of the earliest LA punk scenes. Obviously most folks out there are familiar with Germs guitarist Pat Smear because of the bands he played with post 1993, but his work in this band should not be ignored. There are some real gems on this anthology and being aware of it and hearing it is a must for true fans of quality rock and roll and where it came from.This is a good album for historians of rock and serious punk-rock enthusiasts. A Must for any fan of punk
Usually I credit Black Flag or the Middle Class or the Bad Brains with being the progenitors of the hardcore punk sound. But sometimes, I think that perhaps the Germs might deserve the credit for it. In any case, the Germs are definitely one of the more influential and memorable groups from the 70s L.A. punk scene, and this CD belongs in everyone's punk collection, right next to the Ramones first two albums, Never Mind The Bollocks, The Clash, etc. One thing that will always set them apart are Darby Crash's lyrics. (...) he was also one of the most creative and interesting lyricists in the history of music. The GERMS are hardcore punk legends.
I really enjoy this type of Punk Rock. This was stolen from me along approximately 20 otherr cds. I'm so glad it's back in my life. I feel like it was out of circulation for a good period of time. Happy to have it back in my life.

Germs CD
I just read the biography of The Germs and decided to look for a copy of GI but found instead a copy of MIA their whole anthology. I have to admit that I had the idea before listening to this CD that The Germs were not good musicians and that Darby could not sing. I was wrong on both counts. Darby Crash moans and screams like a great jazz singer except he's punk. The lyrics are poetic and the guitar, bass and drums are driving. Experiance what the germs were all about
I've listen through this album a few times, and think this beautiful piece of vinyl is a real treat for people who really wanted to know what the REAL germs we're about. This is all Darby. All original. If your tired of trying to listen to the germs and keep getting the remakes with Shane west BUY THIS CD!!
