    Seeing machine kid friendly

I knew that I wanted it to be a functioning machine. So that would cost money for additional parts. I have bought a power cord, foot pedal and bobbin cover(on backorder). It really because I like the Janome brand and Hello Kitty. I think I got what was advertised. I didn't anticipate the amount of money it would cost for the missing costs. It was a more than I expected.

  • Janome Hello Kitty 11706 Mechanical Sewing Machine

This is a small, lightweight, about 12 pounds, high quality basic machine that has a very nice straight stitch after you fine tune the tension and replace the plastic bobbins with metal ones. I bought it to take to quilting classes instead of my heavy, expensive, computerized Elna that always seems to fall over in the car. It has three stitch lengths, zigzag satin stitch, reverse, a buttonhole attachment, a light and you can remove the storage compartment which allows you to sew cuffs. I really like that it has snap on feet and that I can use the same ones that I already have for my Elna. I wish that I could lower the feed dogs on it and that it had a carry case. This is a slow, steady, fairly quiet machine that just happens to be packaged in a funky, neat green body with a kitty on ...

  • College Age 'Fibers' Major loves it!

Needed a machine for Christmas for my 20 yr old, who is a 'fibers' major at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), living in a small dorm room with 2 other girls. I looked at expensive, fancy machines but knowing her unusual tastes and a like for 'simplicity', I was immediately intrigued when I spied this little jewel. I broke down and just asked her before I ordered it and she LOVED IT when she saw it online. She wasn't able to try it before going back to school, so I was concerned, but she recently emailed me that she has now used it several times and loves it. Says is sews really easily and was very easy to figure out. She also told me she got something tangled in the bobbin area and was able to remove the bobbin assembly and put it back very easily and successfully. She ...

  • Janome Hello Kitty Machine

This machine is a light weight machine. It has a consistant stitch and a very nice button hole for such a small machine. I have used it on many different fabrics and have no problems with it. I recommend it to my beginning sewing class as a good basic starter machine. It is tough enough to sew through two layers of cotton duck and it can sew very light fabrics as well. The two machines I have used needed a little tension adjustment on the bobbin to keep the zigzag from puckering, but that is a quick easy adjustment that needs to be done to all machines periodically. I think this little machine is one of the best of its class around. It is definitely a no frills machine. It isn't even close to as fast as my big machine, but it isn't as slow as I expected from a little machine. It has enough ...

  • Exactly what I wanted

I grew up using a Kenmore Mini Ultra, and when it broke (from knocking it off a table; it was reliable with heavy use for eleven years) I struggled to replace it. The Janome is the same machine in a different casing. It's a smaller size sewing machine than the standard. The bobbin is a forward loading rather than a drop in. Neither of these, in my opinion, make this machine difficult to use. The stitching options available are more than sufficient for a wide variety of uses, and it is even capable of making buttonholes. I've sewed corset boning, invisible zippers, and huge ruffled skirts on this machine.
