I bought a pair. They seemed a bit pricey but have great range. They also seemed large considering today's technology. Can't carry one in a shirt pocket. Each takes four AA batteries, a bit heavy. Plus, the instructions are confusing , almost incomprehensible. With the internet's help I eventually got them working and now we're LOVING them. One-button-push talking sure beat texting! Better than the Bell
I have four units. My mom is elderly, and this saves her trips to the door from her bedside. I stay upstairs, where I previously couldn't hear anyone at the door. Now with the intercom, there will be fewer missed visitors who can just Holla-up. Very useful tool..

Great Portable Intercom
Work flawlessly in 2500 sq ft two level home. Have been using them for over a year now and they never miss a beat. No interference or false trips of any kind. Communications are very clear. You can adjust the sensitivity of the microphone as well as the speaker volume with dip switches when the back is off. Much better than the two models (900 mHz and newer GHz model) we have used from Radio Shack with mixed results. It seems they have much greater range as advertised. 1000 feet versus 200 as I recall. Very simple to use... just one button. Never had any interference from other radio based communication devices in the neighborhood. With Radio Shack models we did have trouble with this on a few occasions. Big issue if it suddenly occurs while you are sleeping. Again this has ... Work flawlessly in 2500 sq ft two level home. Not as good as I expected.
It did not quite fulfil my expectation and the signal is sometimes bad. I have a shed close to the house and I can't mount this to wall. I just hold it an try to stand close to window to get the best signal.
