One More Time : Fogerty Never Ceases To Amaze !!!
I must admit that I loved his music from the late 60's and all the way through the next century. While we all got a little older , John Fogerty seems to have discovered the fountain of youth ! Not only does he rock out in this DVD and show us his ability to master his guitars,but he does so beautifully ! All the while, sporting that all American boy look as if, time has stood still. John Fogerty is a delight to watch over and over again ( as is the Premonition DVD )- this is a must have for any CCR fan and anyone who just loves great rock & roll ! Fogerty enjoys ripping through every riff like a kid at X-Mas time opening gifts and really loves doing so ( as if, he's doing it for the very first time )..... ! At one point during the concert he opens up with an Eddie Van ... I must admit that I loved his music from the late 60's and all the way through the next century. The concert was recorded in September 2005 at Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, shortly after Fogerty’s triumphant return to Fantasy Records, ending a 30-year series of lawsuits over the Creedence Clearwater Revival song catalog, most of which was written by CCR founder Fogerty. His obvious delight to be performing those songs again was enthusiastically obvious in that performance, and you can feel it on the CD, even if you haven’t seen it on the DVD. Some artists, when separated from the band with which they became famous, lose a little of their original luster. Not so with John Fogerty. Like Neil Young without Crazy Horse, Bruce Sprinsteen without the E Street Band or Bob Seger without the Silver Bullet Band, John Fogerty without CCR is an example of an artist who transcends the ... If that sounds familiar, it’s because this is the same event that spawned a similarly titled DVD this past summer. No matter — throughout the endeavor, Fogerty’s vocals sound as forceful, raw, and urgent as anything that he did during his days fronting Creedence Clearwater Revival, which isn’t too shabby considering that the group disbanded more than 30 years ago. Even though the tracks on The Long Road Home: In Concert haven’t been arranged chronologically, both Fogerty’s solo work and his CCR material mesh together into a seamless offering that provides listeners with a terrific cross-section of his storied career. Although many bands have tried to copy his style, none have been able to duplicate the magic that he is able to create on stage. A natural showman who knows when to talk and when to rock, Fogerty effectively summarized his career in the concert’s opening statement, "What I’m all about is playing rock ’n‘ roll, so let’s get to it!" Most of Fogerty’s signature hits with CCR are featured on The Long Road Home: In Concert, and these include Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Down on the Corner, Travelin’ Band, Lookin’ Out My Back Door, and the unforgettable Who’ll Stop The Rain. Better still, Fogerty makes his solo material as compelling as his CCR tunes. Highlights include his 1985 Top 10 single Old Man Down the Road, the perennial baseball anthem Centerfield, and one of his more recently penned compositions Déjà Vu (All Over Again). The latter song is a haunting ballad during which Fogerty draws an insightful comparison between the Vietnam War and the present conflict in Iraq. While the combination of Fogerty’s songwriting and vocals undeniably power the performance, it’s his supporting cast that pushes the material over the top. The outfit features the polished guitar work of Bob Britt and Billy Burnette, the pounding bass of George Hawkins, Jr., the supporting keyboards of Matt Nolen, and the steady drumming of John Molo. Together, Fogerty and band keep the music flowing for almost an hour and a half, which surely is enough to satisfy even his most hardcore fans.

This man is ageless, he is as good or better today then he was back in the CCR days. His voice is truly awesome, and for a man of 62 he has the energy of a 22 year old. I just wish I knew his secret to long life. The concert was Great in all aspects, and his back up musicians are the best in the business. I caught him again live at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut for his 2006 Concert, he played to a standing room only crowd, and had the 1000's of people rocking for a solid 2.5 hour concert. Buy this DVD, you will be glad that you did. A fellow musicianThis man is ageless, he is as good or better today then he was back in the CCR days.
