About this product

Product Information

A science-fiction series with an ecological theme, EARTH 2 only ran for one season on NBC, and all 22 episodes of the program are collected here. In the distant future, the surface of the Earth has been largely destroyed, and mankind lives in space stations orbiting the planet. A group of space colonists, led by Devon Adair (Debrah Farentino) and John Danzinger (Clancy Brown), are sent to a far off planet to prepare it for colonization by the surviving population of Earth. But a mishap sends them careening off-course, crash landing thousands of miles from the proper camp site. EARTH 2 follows the band of colonists as they traverse the planet, encountering dangerous aliens and other humans who view them with distrust and suspicion. By tackling issues like ecology and colonization, EARTH 2 engages important ideas and themes in an entertaining fashion.

    Nice collection of this hard to find old SciFi series

    Early-mid 90s network TV sci-fi series...some cheesiness to it but overall pretty good; 1 season only but it works for this show decent acting and storyline DVD package is nice...video quality is ok but not great....audio is ok but not great...TV broadcast quality....nothing upgraded

    Disc quality is a bit iffy.

    It took me two tries to find a set that works well. The series is preserved on DVD but it has not been remastered and the quality is really no better than broadcast. Get it if you want to own the series but don't expect fireworks.

    Futuristic Pioneers

    When the show first aired I watched every episode. It gets you hooked early on with a complex story and compelling characters. I was very disappointed when the show wasn't continued after the first season but like most of the shows I like it didn't hit a cord with the mainstream. It's a very good sci-fi show which shows how people are trying to survive on a new world on which they are the alien life and trying to adapt to a completely new way of life. The way they created the native inhabitants was also very unique and I applaud the creators creativity. They basically thought about what humanity may have been if instead of turning to artifice they instead turned to organic technology and bonding with the planet. I bought it because they don't show it on tv anymore and you can't find ...

    North America 2 Complete With Natives

    I rented this series. Some of the show were great but many were just silly. People were not use to dealing with live animals other than cats. Also there were suppose to be the first human on the planet. It becomes obivous that is not true. The natives didn't talk but would appear in dreams. The natives live in harmony with the land. They will probably have problems with a large number of humans arriving and taking over the planet. Most of the colonists have only lived in space colonies since most of Earth has been destroyed by the human race. I missed this show when it was first on television. I think they could have improved it in the second season. There definitely worst shows on the air waves.

    not bad...but not great either

    Earth 2 is about a group of people escaping the government of earth to save the lives of a number of children with a disease.For some reason the government trys several attempts to sabotage the mission & kill the group,but they escape and travel about 24 years to an earth like planet(hence the name earth 2)where the "scout team" is to build a colony for the rest of the group to live when they arrive.Sabotage causes everyone to use escape pods and the whole group gets seperated as well as the supplies & equipment.they meet strange creatures and have a long and uneasy road to travel before the rest arrive.The story it self isn't original..."traveling to find another earth",but they have characters that you like....and hate.The biggest problem with the show i have is in the 1st episode the ...
