Great murder for hire scheme.....great plot.....4 STARS watch out for Alice
PLOT: Laura is out to find the killer of her father no matter what it takes. looser for hire Jackie Wales is greedy for $5,000 he kills Mansfield during a 5 minute intermission in a movie which becomes his iron clad alibi. Laura saw the back of the killer and cozy's up to Jackie get the proof on Jackie. Jackie see's Laura (Joyce Mackenzie) as the uptown girl to his downtown life. When he goes back to get more "cash" from Armitage the man who hired him for the hit he gets the beaten up. Amitage is the owner of the upscale night club the VOGUE and soon Laura is hired as the NEW "cigarette girl" by manager Stretch ...who has an eye for classy Laura. Armitage is soon to be married to chlorine schemer "Alice"...(Myrna Dell) who wants the good things in ... Armitage is soon to be married to chlorine schemer "Alice"...(Myrna Dell) who wants the good things in life and comes up with a GET rich quick scheme...she gets Jackie to blackmail Armitage with a "confession" letter she holds for Insurance so Jackie gets 5 grand and is allowed to live...the partners in crime Jackie and Alice soon get more cash but Armitage finds out and kills them both...but Stretch we find is the clever "brains" behind Armitage and sets up the full proof way of getting rid of Armitage once and for all and involves Laura...his new fiancée in the "murder" of Armitage...This is a very good movie better than I expected Lots of twists and turns but the fun here is watching Alice ...tolerate Armitage while wanting STRETCH...and comes up with her own "GET rich scheme" blackmail her own fiancée....4 STARS for great plot and actors most of who you only see in B movies but give it their very best in this movie. I give it 4 out of 5 for clever schemers all around.

good noir movies are always worth buying and collecting . And this one is certainly one of them.
