    The M1 Helmet of the WWII GI - Oosterman

    This is an outstanding technical reference book that is packed with specific details on the helmets, liners, hardware and markings. It even covers details such as the fabric shade used for liner components at specific time periods. The book gives enough detail to be used as a museum reference for identifying and grading M1 helmets. The museum section in the book contains a wealth of information on helmets actually lost during the war and recovered by locals. Many of these helmets are identified to the individual soldier and show original markings and insignia.One reason I purchased this book is the cover photo of a 2nd Infantry Division patch painted on the steel helmet. I bought this item thinking that it was a post-war parade helmet but the book clearly identifies the painting of the ...
