I finally got to install these and am VERY happy with this product. I didn’t expect much really for $28 but they are very good quality. I did shield the pickguard and cavity so I don’t know if there is much buzz unshielded but there is very little the way I did it. Again, I’m very happy with the smooth velvet strat pickups. I also installed cts pots and a nice switch btw. It does matter.

For the price these can't be beat

Although I bought these to be a substitute pair of pups until I could get some more fender cs69s I think I'm gonna stick with these. I installed these into my main guitar while my backup strat has the cs69s in it. There is a difference in tone since they use different types of alnico magnets, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I love the vintage type tones that I get from these pups and I highly recommend anyone on the fence to give them a try. Who says pickups have to be outrageously expensive to produce great tones!

  • Very vintage and sweet

These are amazing sounding pickups. I used the neck pickup out of this set in an American Fender with alnico 5 pickups in the middle and bridge. The alnico 2 has a smoother treble with more chime than bite compared to A5. These make a thin strat sound fat like Clapton. SRV sound is more A5, but these sound as good as Fender PV'65. Slightly underwound neck and mid with a hot enough bridge, and a fantastic tone.

  • Different

I have never used Alnico 2 pickups before so I didn't know what to expect. First, these are nicely made. They look far better than the price would lead you to believe. Next, they don't sound quite like traditional Strat pickups. They don't make your ears bleed with too much treble. Could use a bit more sustain. Last, they are super sensitive to height adjustments. Seem to be pretty low output so you can really work them with height adjustments. I thought I had a bad pickup in the bridge and then noticed it was a bit farther from the strings than the rest. Brought it up just a little and it was fine. Basically they are an interesting change from a typical Strat sound to something still Strat but with a different tone.

  • Very good pickups -- warmer than traditional strat sound

Hotter than you would expect-- much more so than real Fender 57-62 and Classic 69. The alnico II magnets give it much more warmth n midrange, still got the high end, just not quite like you think. I really like these pickups and they were a great match to my strat build. Not my first pick if you are looking for a strictly glassy with lots of high end strat tone.

  • Great pickups!

Used these to upgrade the ok pickups in a Squier strat rebuild. Flipped them when installing for a bit of the Hendrix reversed-strat mojo. (No, I still can't play like him. Dang.) I don't know if these sound exactly like vintage 50's Strat pickups since I don't have a reference point, but they sound very nice and sweet to my ears. If you're looking for Stevie Ray not your best choice, but for Buddy Holly, Beach Boys, etc. they work very well. They sound great clean, distorted and anywhere in between.
