wrong direction to go in Europe
I tested this Garmin last week for Europe and It gave me very hard times to find it.. I used this machine from Frankfurt, Germany to Reims, France via Heidelberg. 1. In Frankfurt, i had trouble to find the Goethe House 2. Heidelberg, no big trouble because I parked the car during the way 3. To Reims, France , it guided me to Mets city area instead of freeway and had lots of trouble to find it. So, I turned off the garmin and asked local guy to go to the freeway and after that, used my printed map to find the destination.I tested this Garmin last week for Europe and It gave me very hard times to find it.. To tell the truth I didn't buy this unit for my automobile, I bought it for my boat. Although it's not a true navigational aid it does have several features that are useful for boating. A compass, an accurate speedometer, and it will give an approximate location using landmarks, so for inland navigation it's a great help. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for ocean, coastal or large waterways. I also own a late model Garmin Nuvi 3590 that I use while driving, which has free map updates and traffic updates, this is the one I use when I travel. So while this works great for the reason I purchased it I wouldn't recommend it for automobile travel. So I'm checking I would not recommend this product to a friend, it does work fine for the purpose I bought it. Also I wouldn't buy from this ... Being new in US I needed something to start with for ease of my job and easy commuting. Garmin Nuvi 250 is a nice pocket size device with a 3.5" screen, and very easy use of programming. I found it handy, easy to use and easy to feed in the desired location. I suggests names after just typing the initial two letters and you get a choice to select your desired city and streets, that is all and go. I found it convinient at a good bargain at its price. Good Starting GPS
I've had this GPS for about two days now and I think that it is an essential tool. Considering that it is an earlier model in the series, the features are basic which for me is a good thing.It receives a good signal while I'm driving and I never have to wait more than a minute for my directions to load. The sound is crystal clear and allows you to hear every turn by turn direction. Given its size, its perfect to take with you pretty much anywhere. I thought that maybe buying a refurb would be a bad idea but after receiving this one and trying it out I would recommend it to anyone One thing that may be a down side to this GPS is that it does not say the street names when you're driving which some might find as a negative.I've had this GPS for about two days now and I think that it is an essential tool. Garmin is the Top Line for GPS devices - the 250 is a good starter GPS because it has the simple features. This device will give you directions - but no street names. Once you bring the maps to date, there are lots of places to review. The service also allows you to save the coordinates as a favorite and that is very helpful when it is not on the list.
