About this product

Product Information

This examination of the lower classes takes its two characters on a road movie the only way the impoverished can travel--on foot. This amusing societal study watches Ben (Gary Farmer) and The Man (Stephen Ouimette), two homeless men with only one possession between them, an electric space heater. Despite cold December weather, the partners are unable to use this modern invention to warm up since they have no outlet to plug the device into. The hapless pair then embark on a journey to a suburban shopping mall. The trek brings them in contact with a number of rude and unusual members of their own species.

  • Excellence in Canadian film

I saw this movie once on TV a couple of years ago and loved it so much! I was recently discussing Canadian movies with a friend and remembered this one so I decided to find it and buy it. It was even better than the first time I saw it! It has all the richness of a Canadian film and portrays the reality of being homeless. The two main characters develop a companionship and trust over the length of the movie. This is a movie that will prompt much discussion among viewers. There is a considerable amount of language and violence as well as graphic images so it is definitely not suitable for young children. Highly recommend this!

  • Heater

Watched this on my birthday and cried - Gary Farmer is excellent (as usual. The absolute futility of the characters' situations is very well portrayed, with sensitivity and humour. Deserves to be better known.
