About this product

Product Information

If God is loving, why is there suffering? What's the difference between permitting something and ordaining it? When bad things happen, who's behind them--God or the devil? When suffering touches our lives, questions like these suddenly demand an answer. From our perspective, suffering doesn't make sense, especially when we believe in a loving and just God. After more than thirty years in a wheelchair, Joni Eareckson Tada's intimate experience with suffering gives her a special understanding of God's intentions for us in our pain. In When God Weeps, she and lifelong friend Steven Estes probe beyond glib answers that fail us in our time of deepest need. Instead, with firmness and compassion, they reveal a God big enough to understand our suffering, wise enough to allow it--and powerful enough to use it for a greater good than we can ever imagine

  • When God Weeps by Joni Eareckson Tada & Steven Estes

I bought this book for a women's study group at my church. The writing styles of Ms. Tada and Dr. Estes are relaxing and engaging. They paint vivid portraits of people and circumstances, drawing you in with wit, compassion, and honesty. There is no hint of self-pity, maudlin emotionalism, or condemnation as truly horrifying and seemingly senseless suffering is examined under the light of Scripture. There are several very "difficult" doctrines addressed here. And I must say they are dealt with frankly and without apology. The reader is gently but consistently reminded that these things are difficult to fully understand, but not beyond a 'knowing' that can change our comprehension of God and, thus, our spiritual growth and stability. This book is an excellent catalyst for discussion, ...

  • When God Weeps

One of the best books I have ever read about suffering and the whys of it. Joni is a very special person who has first hand knowledge of suffering and how God makes it possible to go on even when we don't want to. It is a book that every Christian should read. suffering is a part of this life, but reading this book makes it easier and even desirable. She makes you feel God's heart in what she has written

  • Spot on read for a realistic look at suffering.

For those suffering it gives hope in the goodness of God.

  • God is touched by our sorrow

Great logic and examples of why we suffer and how God cares and allows it. I have given several copies away to those who are coping with disease and death and theological questions of God and suffering.
