About this product

Product Information

Building on the success of previous editions, this book continues to provide engineers with a strong understanding of the three primary types of materials and composites, as well as the relationships that exist between the structural elements of materials and their properties. The relationships among processing, structure, properties, and performance components for steels, glass-ceramics, polymer fibers, and silicon semiconductors are explored throughout the chapters. The discussion of the construction of crystallographic directions in hexagonal unit cells is expanded. At the end of each chapter, engineers will also find revised summaries and new equation summaries to reexamine key concepts.

  • Good experience with in depth knowledge.

This is a great text to understand the fundamentals of the science of materials. Although, the engineering of materials sections are somewhat lacking. I recommend mechanics of materials to understand the engineering aspect of materials. Well organized and easy to read. As a college student, I wish the chapters where shorter.

  • Great book for the price. The edition is from India. Images are b/n.

This is a great book! The price is awesome. Images, as the whole book, are in gray scale, that can cause problems because sometimes color is necessary. Other than that, everything is ok.

  • I really like the book so far.

It uses concepts discussed in my materials engineering class. The book incorporates chemistry and engineering in one book. The definitions at the back of the book are more informative than the definitions throughout the book.

  • Review

I orderd the Materials science and Engineering : An Introduction(6th). But I got a 8th edition textbook. Since this book is similar the 6th, I will use that. However if I knew the 8th, I didn't buy it.
