    Ultra Review

Although some aspects of this book is controversial, there are a few key points that Cathy makes. Let's start with the good: she makes valid points about cutting split ends and hair grease. She writes in the point of view for people with relaxed hair; however, if you don't have relaxed hair you can still learn from this book. The bad: Her books is basically an excerpt of Don't Go Shopping for Hair-Care Products Without Me. If you just read Paula Begoun book, you will learn everything that Cathy Howse says. At least with her book you're taught everything need to know about the basics of hair. However, if you're looking for an in-depth review of hair products that you can use for your hair regardless if it is straightened, relaxed, permed, damage, this isn't the book.

    Don’t waste your money

This book is not helpful and truthful. She stated oil doesn’t not grow out hair which is not true. A good carrier oil with Antiflamatory essential oils will definitely grow your hair. It helps with blood flow and stimulates the scalp. All this book does is pressure you to buy her products which have lots of chemicals in them. Don’t waste your money on this book. Do your own research using Pinterest, google or YouTube. You can make your own products for hair growth. This book is not updated on caring for hair

  • Every black women should have this book

I ran upon this book on the internet, when I got tricked into purchasing another person hair growth book. and what she had was a spin off from this book..or a copy. Any way! I purchased this book, its been a yr now.....I buy as gifts for my female friends. I am following her techniques, it works...you just have to decide on the right products for your hair...Yes! she pushes her products...But that is your final decision to use it. I did try her products, I liked them. But I am going all naural and organic and her products does not have safe ingredients in them. NOw there is one thing Cathy never addressed. The type of combs that we use on our hair. The combs we buy tear your hair out. You do take the test. look at all your hair combs, in between the teeth you will feel a seam. well ...

  • This book is a MUST READ, with the web for backup!

I was skeptical of this book and bought it with a friend. The first 60 pages are all about not cutting the hair. I really didn't need 60 pages to get the message because I was convinced at page 25. But the last 100 pages are really worth reading and then re-reading. But I re-read Chapter 4-10 looking for the answers to questions that she didn't address like Setting Lotion (I'm a SL Junkie). So then, I was skeptical about the products that she suggested. Its her own haircare line and she stands to make some money, so I was determined never to visit ubhpublications. Mistake, big mistake!! At the website she answers sooooo many questions!! I felt like she had written a sequel "Dear Abby" style and addressed to me, to you, my mom, sister, gramdma and to my girlfriends. The jury is IN and both ...

  • Ultra Black Hair Growth II

Cathy Howse has written an excellent guide to black hair. She discusses many "myths" that are prevalent within the black community regarding hair care. Whether or not the authors ideas work has not been tested by reviewer (but soon will be), however, according to the author, it is the only method that has been proven to work. This is a wonderful book for any novice who is looking for hair care information and would make an excellent guide. The book is also a very easy read and the quick reader could read the entire book in one setting. The only drawback is that the author tends to "push" her products throughout the book. Great information though, regardless of this fact.
