About this product

Product Information

Two thousand years later the call to follow Christ has been repackaged to be smooth and trouble-free, filled with opportunity and promise but lacking risk, passion, and sacrifice. Is this really what Jesus died for? If He chose the way of the cross, where would He hesitate leading us? Is it possible that to follow Jesus is to choose the barbarian way? Jesus never made a pristine call to a proper or safe religion. Jesus beckons His followers to a path that is far from the easy road. It is a path filled with adventure, uncertainty, and unlimited possibilities'the only path that can fulfill the deepest longings and desires of your heart. This is the barbarian way: to give your heart to the only One who can make you fully alive. To love Him with simplicity and intensity. To unleash the untamed faith within. To be consumed by the presence of a passionate and compassionate God. To go where He sends you, no matter the cost.

    Worth the read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As a Christian for most of my life, I found this book to shake me of the normalcy I often find in my faith, and toward a healthy paradigm shift in which I have come to a better understanding of the greatness of the Christ that a serve.

  • Makes you look at life differently!

The Barbarian Way is such an amazing book. It really helps you take a good look at your life in Christ. Are we really living the unashamed life God gave us the ability to live or just existing among the masses?

  • No Other Way

This is an excellent book and Erwin McManus is a master at getting to the big picture. This book touches on what a true follower of Christ should be about, not look like. He talks about reaching out in our communities and really loving people. Getting out of our safe little churches and walking into the jungle and bringing people to know Jesus and to truly follow Him. Jesus loved the unlovable, walked in danger knowing that people wanted Him dead and if we are true followers, we will love the unlovable and walk in danger because He said "Come follow me!" not "Come watch me!". Excellent book. Follow this up with Unstoppable Force by Mc Manus and Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller.

  • This book can open your eyes!

This was a quick and engrossing read - I finished it the day it arrived. That doesn't mean it is a lightweight book. The ideas presented are not conformist or even always comfortable, but they are powerful. McManus points out that we are not called to a life of "name it and claim it", opulent Christianity, but instead we are told to take up our cross daily. Buy this book, read it, and give it to someone with the request to pass it on.
