The Olympus FL-36R is a shoe mount flash that is specially designed to be compatible with Olympus digital SLR cameras. One of its most convenient features is the ease of connection. No cables are required, which simplifies and speeds up the process. The metal brackets that support the shoe mount also provide the electrical connection needed to work the flash through the camera. The Olympus flash is powerful enough to improve the quality of pictures taken even in less-than-perfect light conditions.External flashes, especially when focusing at low light levels, can sometimes be difficult to use in conjunction with internal built-in units due to their white light. But rather than taking up to 5 attempts to get your picture focused, the FL 36R gets your photo focused rapidly. This is done by providing a red flash that is closer to the center of the color spectrum, thus balancing the picture out. No strobe assistance is required, so those in the picture won't be blinded by the strobe lights afterward.Take advantage of the swiveling and tilting flash head of the Olympus FL 36R Shoe Mount. When you need a warmer, softer, and cleaner look, the FL-36R head can make the lights bounce off of the walls and ceilings. The vertical rotation angle is up to +90 / -1.5, with the horizontal rotation angle capable of rotating up to +180 / -90. Between this feature and the unit being mounted over the lens, the problem of red-eye is virtually eliminated.With 3 times the power of standard built-in units, these accessories for the serious photographer will easily fill a large room with lighting, focusing the entire picture. With the Super FPP mode, the FL36R can synchronize with the camera even at extremely high shutter speeds. This feature is ideal for those that enjoy taking action shots or of objects that move fast, such as animals. You can also create fun effects for your pictures by using the manual mode and having the flash be triggered by the built-in standard mounts of the camera. This allows for multiple lights and sources.With dimensions of 7.2 inches by 3.9 inches by 2.9 inches, this shoe mount from Olympus is compact in size.     A well suited flash for the E volt series 4/3 product line.

    This flash works well with the E-620 and E-500 bodies I have. The flash recycles quickly. I like that it has remote capability and is triggered by the E-620. It only has two AA batteries so keep some spares on hand if using it frequently. The flash is light and easy to carry in my kit bag.

    greatest lil flash

    With old time flashes I was told you realy want a unit thay uses 4 AA bateries, This take 2 AAs but it works qite well. There is a lil bit of a learning curve, when you first start to use this flash wirelessly, and you have to jugle between the camera manual to tell you how to set it to RC, then the flash manual to get the flash set for your use. There are 3 settings on the Flash TTL, Manual and RC. but that just part of the learning curve. I have never used the multiple group capability, but it all seems pretty strait forward to set all these things fron the camera body. Basicaly its a great lil flash. Just take the time to learn all its capabilities.

    Getting a flash designed for the camera is the only way to go.

    This is a great flash. I use it combined with an Olympus EP3 and with this range of cameras the Wireless function works very well. This enables me to use the off camera versatility and get rid of red eye etc. but one of the really great advantages of this is that i can still use my electronic viewfinder. The eP3 also has an internal flash which is good. I think this is a very powerful combination. The only thing I find I need to be careful with is the zoom function because if I do not have this correctly organised I can get areas without proper lighting.
