Extremely Versatile Amp, compact with some great features
If this tells you anything about how much I like this amp I have now bought four of them. I drive two of them in stereo using two tube preamps (basically Ma***all-style hi gain). The Howitzers seem to thrive on this input and the sound is amazing: Cello or violin-like tones which I haven't been able to obtain with other solid state power amps with this type of clarity and definition. The three band EQ allows me to further tailor my sound and the bright switch is great for adding a bit of presence. On its own the Howitzer can generate some decent overdriven sounds similar to a tube amp (it has a gain knob), but I prefer the preamp through the front end. The effects loop is great, I use it to run a stereo digital reverb in my setup. I bought four and have described how I use two of them. The ... The other two I use in tandem with four other amps with various modulation and delay effects. They blend perfectly with these other amps, are dead quiet and have a warm, bell-like sound which I really like. The 15 watts provides adequate output through efficient speakers (a combination of Eminence Legend and Mojotone British series). Note: I've read reviews which speak to noise. To prevent this it seems critical to use a three-prong (grounded) cord for the power supply. The first of these came with a two-prong cord and it WAS noisy. Rather than panic I used a three-prong cord I had handy and this eliminated the noise entirely. Also there's no on/off switch, but if you turn the volume all the way down when powering on or off you avoid any popping noises which otherwise will occur. Versatile, compact and smart features not to be found in other amp pedals like the Magnum 44 or Baby Bomb. I cannot recommend enough.

Really easy to get an edge of breakup sound at low volumes which is saying a lot for a non tube amp of any kind. Have yet to try the FX loop or putting anything in front of it pedal wise but I fell like it will deliver the goods. Running it through a single celestion 12" cab I built and it's perfect as a companion amp in my control room for quick ideas.
