About this product

Product Information

Tom Selleck stars in this television movie adaptation of Robert B. Parker's novel as New England police chief Jesse Stone. After a serious gig as a top homicide detective in Los Angeles, Stone settles in a small town along the coast of Maine where he leads a relatively simple life. In the predominantly crime-free town of Paradise, Stone tries to minimize the drama in his life by drinking heavily, avoiding his bitter ex-wife, and keeping his new, younger girlfriend at a safe distance. But things for Stone and the other inhabitants of Paradise are thrown into chaos when a dead body washes ashore, and a high school student confesses to being raped by not one, but several attackers. Drawing on his experience as a big city investigator, Stone must find the culprits before his peaceful town turns into the playground of a serial killer.

Exciting saga showcases Tom Selleck in a new role somewhere between Magnum PI and Blue Bloods.

This was the only episode of the series that I was missing. Now my collection is complete.

  • Great production from Robert Parker's book

I've been a major fan of Robert Parker for years. I have most of his books (all but the latest which I have not found in the regular paperback format yet). So when a series of movies based on some of his books (and characters) came out, I was quite excited. The first 2 I got actually were the 2nd and 3rd produced, and the 1st and 3rd chronologically. They were as good as I hoped, but the later one was a bit confusing. And, being so familiar with the books, I spent some of my attention noting differences. Finding the 4th and 5th in the series, led me to search out this one, which was actually the first one made. After watching it, the confusion from number 3 was cleared up. Parker writes (well, wrote) a particular type of character. Very strong, straightforward, focused, with a wry ...

  • Stone Cold

What you think starts off, as a typical Tom Selleck movie...well sit back, make sure you have everything first. Have the remote handy as well. If you miss any portion of this film...dont rewind, becuase you will miss alot of the concept of the film. It is a slow sinking in film any crime noir will enjoy. Right off the bat you are involved with the crime. A professional baseball player turned cop, a former drunken la detective turned small town cop, a big city lawyer turned small town public defender, a big city girl turned da and lover to the chief of police who is 20 years older than her. serial killers loose in the country spy and prey on the town. Rich kids who get away with murder. All this moves into one large expanding plot. Which idea is going to run away and get lost? Which ...

  • Stone Cold (DVD, 2005)

Simply put, this was one of the most refreshing and enjoyable TV movie. Selleck is simply great. The main plot is interesting and the smaller side plots really help the movie and help flesh out the personality of Sellecks character (Jesse Stone). The personal demons of Jesse Stone are nicely weaved into the plot and do not in any way diminish the movie, they actually help it. It is very entertaining and did not have alot of the typical hollywood political correctness garbage. Just a straight-forward, smart and entertaining movie. A great little gem from beginning to end!!! Recommended for fans of thriilers and Tom Selleck!!!
