Good Player but has limitations.
As a Player, I went for the size of of the display. It does a nice job as a video player. I also play audio books and music. If I go in under music, I had to create play lists to play albums and audio books. If I went under files then I could play the files without the play lists. Under the negatives, The battery life with the ARCHOS 705 was not what was claimed by the manufacturer which is pretty standard in electronics. Now the play list creator is clumsey. In order to create the play lists of all 900 files would have taken several weeks. It took me a week working at least 6 hours a day to create 400 at shich point I stopped and found the trick of playing thru the file manager. I wish I could have created them from the computer but was unable to do so. I as almost any computer ... As a Player, I went for the size of of the display. It does a nice job as a video player. At this point I only have 30GB left on the 160gb hard drive. It will be filled by the end of 2011. For long trips, I would recommend the purchasing of 2 or more extended batteries of 10,200 mills. My estimation that this with the 2 standard batteries would allow 20 hours of video playback and 60 hours of audio. Should be enough to get to Australia or the far east. With regard to using the Archos 705 to access the internet, Opera is clumsy and not worth the effort. I dont feel that it was worth the effort to access the internet. Give me a windows based tablet and a different brower for that. Still it was worth the cost of this of this player.

These products are very old and the product itself is really a good product BUT the batteries for them are not available, completely unavailable. I found one resource that had a battery, received it, and due to the battery being also old it did not maintain a charge and the AC adapter will not work without a battery that can maintain a charge.
