It feels like cotton but it's easy to be paranoid of online purchases, especially from eBay where so much is a scam. Without a shopkeeper to have a conversation with in a store setting, I can only hope this is breathable enough over the mouth. It's my first keffiyeh and it surprised me with how thick it is when you fold it into a triangle. Helps with the sun at least, when not over my mouth. Big enough to wrap, and not wildly off measurements like other stores! Thanks.

Note for buyers: hand wash your keffiyeh/shemagh over and over again in cold water, draining its water completely, to get rid of all of that excess dye and factory residue that wil normally hang onto it. It didn't change the color of mine or anything bad like that. It madeit smell better too.
