    Great Series

    This is an excellent series on various saints and others whose writings and lives have heavily influenced Catholicism and the Catholic Church. The narrator is excellent on all levels, the photography is beautiful and moving, and the scholarship is top flight. I would recommend this series to anyone who has an interest in theology and/or Catholicism.

    Why Michelangelo is a pivotal character of the Church.

    Another first-class production by Bishop Barron. After an historical account of Michelangelo's early life, we are treated to dozens of sculptures --Moses, Pieta, Nicodemus. The David is discussed as his masterpiece. Monumental blocks of raw marble that imprisoned the figures are released by a man with chisel and hammer. The Sistine Chapel figures and groups, are discussed in Biblical context. Since this is not another Sister Wendy or Kenneth Clark presentation, the artist's work is brought to us as though it was divinely inspired and worthy to be studied as part of the Roman Catholic Canon.

    Fr. Robert Barron is a very engaging speaker! He is very knowledgeable of Catholic history and dogma. He has his PHD in Theology. The videography is top notch in this and his other productions.(Catholicism: The Journey of a Lifetime- 5 disc set). He has spoken many times on EWTN. Don't miss these two series!
