About this product

Product Information

Ever dream of becoming a professional world-class skateboarding cover boy or girl?

Thanks to the developers at Z-Axis, the backing of Rockstar Games and the sponsorship of Thrasher Magazine, any underachieving skater or non-skating game player is given that very opportunity on their PlayStation.

Tour the world and ride open and interactive terrain through 12 levels of real-world skate spots from your hometown to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and international hotspots in the UK and Germany. The open-nature of the courses allow for constant mixing up of tricks on the quest to find the perfect line.

Choose from six different fictional skaters with varying degrees of strength and weakness. For a tough and versatile skater, choose Axl or for a more balanced skater take Kahli on your mission. Each skater features their own skating and clothing style.

Although each skater offers a different and varying skill level, their mission objectives are the same. Each player starts off as a wanna-be amateur skater with no sponsor or street credibility. Your goal is to turn your skater into the Thrasher Magazine Skater of the Year.

With each level cleared, a new level will be made available and so will a new bag of tricks. By the time the player reaches the final stage over 100 tricks per skater will be available to be performed. Tricks can also be combined for a seemingly endless list of tricks on hundreds of obstacles.

Thrasher: Skate & Destroy features seven multiplayer options, although lacks a split-screen mode.

Just to get you in the mindset to tackle the gritty streets of this authentic skating wonderland, Rockstar Games included a true hip-hop soundtrack from artists such as Run-DMC, the Sugar Hill Gang, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, and Public Enemy.

To make your stunt wood dreams come true, look into gearing up to get down with Thrasher: Skate & Destroy.

  • Don't ignore this game because of Tony Hawk.

This game would have gotten more respect if it did not got released right after Tony Hawk Pro skater. These are two quite different games. Tony hawk is more of a fast action arcade game. Thrasher is a more realistic skating game which takes longer to learn. The control and animations are both smooth (the wipeouts are great). There are 12 areas to skate one: two of which, however, are rather lame. In one player mode some more advanced tricks are leaned as you go. You can also choose the sponsers you want to represent on your shirt, shoes, and board. The sound track on this game is the coolest I've heard on a playstation game. Rather than having music created for the game it uses existing old-school hip-hop songs by such artists as Run DMC, Gang Starr, and Public Enemy. Also included is, in ...

  • why this game is so good to me.

in my humble opinion thrasher skate and destroy would be in the uppermost echelon of video games. it really has everything in a video game i personally as a skateboarder could desire. like skateboarding this game is cumbersome, technically difficult to get used to, and to most gamers graphically dated. i mean these things all as earnest attributes and things that make me like the game more. small gestures like breaking your board and being chased by cops make it sit in a more plausible and reality based world when compared with lesser titles like tony hawk pro skater. the soundtrack is airtight, the way you gradually learn tricks is awesome, the locales are almost all historic spots, and the sponsor companies are the best possible candidates for 90's skateboarding. i have played this game ...
