Excellent reference book for anyone in the applied clinical sciences...and that it is. There is so much information packed in this tiny reference book that as a middle-career professional is immeasurably helpful. I appreciate everything, including the mental status exam descriptors and the psych clinical history as a good reference point for those starting out and as a booster for those who have been practicing awhile. Needless to say, I appreciate and recommend this resource to all of my students and colleagues.Excellent reference book for anyone in the applied clinical sciences...and that it is. Great quick guide for healthcare professionals.
I'm a PA student. When I was going into my Behavioral medicine rotation, I wanted a book that could work as a quick reference for psychiatric issues. Kaplan's has been a great reference guide for that purpose. It is based on the DSM-IV criteria and follows the same outline. It is a good book for those who don't plan investing a lot of money on a clinical psychiatry book but would like to have a definition, etiology, psychodynamics, diagnosis, differential, prognosis, and treatment of such conditions. Well worth the money. P.S. Behavioral Medicine was actually fun ;)I'm a PA student.
