About this product

Product Information

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ GHz Dual-Core processors offer high-end processing speeds that are accessible for a wide range of computer users. The specs for this chip are very impressive and powerful. AMD has a reputation for delivering high-quality CPUs, and their Athlon series dual core CPU is no exception. Athlon X2 processors come with built-in ATI Radeon Graphics technology for crisp, vivid images and videos on your monitor. This means you don't need a dedicated graphics card in order to run 3D graphics smoothly. Should you decide that you do want a separate GPU, AMD offers a line of graphics cards and accessories that work incredibly well with these CPUs. The company has software designed to improve performance with AMD hardware, meaning speeds are boosted for both components. With a very impressive L1 and L2 cache and capacity for both 32-bit and 64-bit processing, the AMD Athlon 64 gives users the ability to accomplish a wide range of tasks at a fast and efficient rate. These include computing tasks that are data-intensive, such as playing a game or multimedia editing, as well as running multiple tasks that are less demanding. For these reasons, this processor works beautifully as a core component in a PC build, especially if you're interested in playing games. The 2.7 GHz CPU runs most modern games without any issues, and it offers decent graphical rendering without the need for a separate GPU. With two physical cores, the Athlon X2 features technology that allows it to run multiple threads inside those cores, making it an absolute beast when it comes to multitasking performance. The AM2 socket type means that this chip will work with any motherboard that supports DDR2 RAM and contains AM2 sockets, such as those made by Asus, ASRock, and Gigabyte. This is terrific news for anyone looking to build a gaming desktop on a tight budget. The raw tech power that you will find in this AMD CPU makes it an excellent option. While this CPU's core clock speed of 2.7GHz is more than enough for your basic computer needs, techies and hackers can squeeze a bit more juice out of this CPU by overclocking it. With a few tweaks, customers have managed to max their clock speeds to 3.1GHz with a powerful cooling system in order to run stably. Users can squeeze an extra 100MHz or so out of these chips on average without any heat issues. With the Athlon X2, you can expect great results. Whether you’re online gaming, rendering video footage, or drafting, this AMD Athlon chip is a great option. You’ll notice that it’s more than fast enough to handle all of your web browsing needs as well. Apart from processing speed, the AMD Athlon 64 features great performances in many other aspects of computing. These include energy efficiency, the ability to process more threads of information, enhanced visuals, and dynamic thermal management. Because of these numerous benefits, AMD's hardware are renowned by gamers and tech enthusiasts, and this chip is a shining example of their signature level of quality.

    It works as expected

I am somewhat of a novice in the upgrading department, and I was a little apprehensive to purchase something I was afraid would burn my computer up, but I took the chance and ordered this processor. I know I'm dealing with older technology here, but going from a single core (2Ghz) processor to a dual core (2.7Ghz) processor, provided my system(s) a nice boost. Everything runs smoother. The processor(s) usually run at 2712-2713Ghz, but once (I don't know why) the computer was running at 3Ghz. I have ordered this processor two times as I have two identical machines that I have upgraded. One computer has 2Gb of memory and the other has 4Gb of memory. The machine with the 4Gb of memory runs a little hotter (50c to 60c during the day when the ambient temp is higher, vs 40c to 50c at night) but ...

  • Great value: used cpu AMD AM2

This is a very good era of AMD cpus, still easy to find motherboards for AM2 type, high end stuff, but because it's now getting older, it's a great deal. The AM2 does everything you need a cpu to do for almost any application except the heaviest duty stuff, which 99% of people never do, excluding gaming of course. From now on I'm always going to buy my ram/cpus this way, the cost savings is easily worth it. Note: always avoid bent pins etc, they are hard to bend back. I've never had a cpu fail, any, ever, so I feel quite confident buying them used. And at these prices, it's hardly a gamble.

  • Athlon 64 X2 5200+ ADO5200IAA5DO

Well, I am already a fan of AMD. That's why I was using the 4200+ for 2 years now. It was time for a little change. So, I got this 5200+ with the latest stepping and 65nm istead of the 90nm of my old cpu. Apart from the difference on windows 7 cpu score (before it was 4,9 and now it's 5,8), I now have much better graphics and more fps. Plus it is running smooth. No issues until now. I was playing a game in low quality graphics. Medium it is now and I think I'll try full as well. The 4200+ had some lack of power there. This one is much more powerfull. If you're planning to spend a few dollars on your pc and you think that your cpu is slow... these dollars worth it.

  • Dell Rocks!

I've bought several desktop P.C.s in the past but this new DELL is absolutely incredible!!! It's easy to set up and the performance is right on, I love it!

  • its good.

this is the most powerful 65 watt am2 processor out there. if your mobo limits it to 65 watts get this. even boards that say they only support the 4800+ will support this processor and i got mine for 6 bucks. its worth it. can do skyrim at good framerates.
