I haven’t done any machining with this yet, but I am pleasantly surprised by how solidly it is made, and how there is essentially no play in it. I used a cheap stepper driver to rotate it in both axes, and it seems to work fine. Not sure it’s beefy enough for machining steel, but it should be fine for aluminum.
Note that there are no homing switches on it. Also, it looks like it would be possible to rotate the A axis too far and damage the connection to the C-axis stepper motor, so - don’t.
