    The Gunslinger written and read by Stephen King

    I have a great love of audio books, especially audio books on cassettes which I consider to still be the best medium for any audio book. This particular audio book is one of my favorite stories and I have heard it read before but this time it is read by the arthur himself. Stephen King is not only a great writer but an excellant story teller. He has the rare ability to convey to the listener not only what the story is about but what the characters feel and think. If you ever get the chance to listen to this audio book by Stephen King do so. You won't regret it.

    THE GUNSLINGER AUDIO BOOK READ BY THE AUTHOR

    I WAS`NT IMPRESSED WITH STEVEN KINGS NARRATION ON THIS STORY. I THINK I WAS THE FIRST ONE HE`D READ AND THERE`S A DISCLAIMER AT THE START. THE LATER BOOKS HE NARRATES ARE MUCH BETTER.I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I LOVED THE DARK TOWER STORIES AND THOUGHT THE AUDIO BOOKS WOULD BE MUCH EASIER ( THEY ARE ).

    A Steven King Classic

    What else can be said about The Gunslinger that hasn't already been said? First, this isn't your typical SK horror story with lots of scary moments and creatures of the night lying in wait. Instead, it is more of an action drama with elements of the occult interwoven within it. Roland, the hero, is not a particularly likeable fellow, but you have to admire his skill with weapons. Like so many real people, he is full of a great deal of inner turmoil and conflict and he is just as likely to lie as tell the truth. Ultimately, the reader becomes enmeshed in wondering whether Roland will be faithful to his companions and whether any or all of his companions will survive their journey through parallel planes of our world and theirs.

    the tapes were in great condition and came in time.

    I am a big fan of Stephen King and this is a great addition to my library. This is the first time I have listened to a book on tape,and it was read by the author so it was even better. I am hoping to find the rest of the Dark Tower series on CD.
