    RM-AV3000 Remote Control

This is a discontinued product from Sony. I found the manual online and used it to program. Programming is not a straight forward type thing with it so its design could have been better but it does a lot. I purchased this because of a requirement I have for timer command operations which it in fact has and it works. Once you figure out the particulars of programming it, it works just fine.

    this thing STINKS

Hoping for a remote for my second Sony surround system BUT this Remote- STINKS of Sony's engineering ineptitude= Even the "touchscreen" Stinks! = Just by touching the "touchscreen" turns the device on and that can deplete battery life (and those little buggers don't come cheap). And it can be a BIG hassle because just trying to set it down it can totally disrupt your selections. Very, Very POOR visibility, (even with backlighting) VERY hard to find codes to program the different devices. Basically Sony products Sucks Big Rocks! I am confused wiTh my decisions to buy Sony Products while these LOUSY Surround Stereo systems seem to be dropping like flies and RIDICULOUSLY LOW RESALE VALUE... $30 to $50 (almost costs more to ship one than to buy one) Second NO WAY did I imagine HOW ...

  • Good all around remote

If you have many devices controlled by an IR remote like I do, this is an excellent, affordable remote that will control everything. The Sony RM-AV3000 is a complex remote, when given the time to set up, is very easy to use. I would not reccomend this remote if you only have a couple of components to control, however, if many components are in a system this remote is excellent. My AV system has a surround sound receiver, flat panel, dvd changer, satellite radio, DVD changer, MD recorder, digital entertainment hub, laser disc player, CD recorder, cable box, and a video projector. I can control all of it with this remote as well as the projection screen, drapes and lighting in the room. I have tried a Logitech Harmony 1000 and Harmony 1100 costing hundreds more. The unit comes pre loaded ...

  • Sony RM-AV3000

This is a very versatile programmable remote. It has timer and macro functions so that you can set it to do various control operations unattended. It is a little "old school" with its low contrast LCD screen and it can not be updated. It has a learn function that works well, but the manual is not easy to follow. If it freezes up and you have to take the batteries out to reset it, all the programming is lost. All in all, it is good if you have a little patience. If you have 2 of them, you won't lose your programming because you can transfer the programming from one to the other. Would I buy another one? Well, I did. This remote can learn functions from a Canon camcorder remote control. I also have a Philips Pronto TSU2000 but it can't learn from the Canon remote, a ...

  • One of the best types of remotes available

I have four of these excellent remote controls. We use them for TVs, VCRs, DVD players, one of our A/C units and it powers up our entire complex sound system, turns on the television, has both DVD players come on and then turns on our favorite television station. The layout is nice, being able to see it at night is great. There are macros available to handle timed events and multiple steps easily. The 4 AA batteries last for months and a few of the buttons glow in the dark; that helps you to see some things until you've turned on the built-in "indigo blue" electro-luminescent LCD display. I just bought my fifth so my wife and I don't need to share in the bedroom.
