    Great cookbook

I've used this cookbook since I was 19 years old. I bought a new (used) one of the same issue (published in 1975) because the one I've had since the 80's has been used so much it was literally falling apart. Read reviews that later publications were disappointing so I stuck with the old one Pretty much covers all of the basics.

  • The single best cookbook out there, still.

I've got my mom's old Joy by Rombauer (3rd edition) and also the new edition by Rombauer, Becker, and Becker. I reckon that this edition by Rombauer and Becker (1975) is by far the best one. If I could have only one cookbook in my kitchen, it would be this one. It covers all aspects of cooking for almost anything I'd care to make. When other processed foods (e.g., mayonnaise, seasoned flour, pan gravy, etc.) are ingredients to recipes, there are cross-references so that one can make those ingredients. The cookbook is so comprehensive that it even has a section on game and tells how to clean and dress animals so that if you do not have a dressed rabbit for your stew, you can do it yourself. I particularly like the sections "about" food and cooking. Highly recommended.

  • A great cook book.

j Being a collector of cook books, I have always known of the Cook Book, "The Joy of Cooking ," but have never owned one. It was a huge mistake on my part, because you cannot believe the depth of this book. Nothing has been omitted. On the contrary, the book is so complete, I believe that this cook book, by itself, is all you would need to cook anything dish you desired. And this book can be purchased very economically. I am impressed, I think you will be too. RV Spearman

  • Great!

I received the cookbooks quickly and all were in good shape! I got this cookbook as a wedding gift 40 years ago. Best one out there. Giving these as gifts to my children!

  • Cookbook is sill "IN

I lost my copy in a move, after having it for 30+ years. There are recipes in here I have not found elsewhere and could not duplicate.
