The older&younger Sister completing a set
The fact that she is of good quality (anything of Bob Mackie's is) is her saving grace! But she was too expensive when she 1st came out, I would have never bought her and I knew then, she would not appreciate in worth even though she's a #1. But then about 20yrs later Bob came out with the "Black dress version" of her and I loved that doll and spent the money on her (I buy what I like ... sometimes ... maybe because I like Bob Mackie the man, "Carol Burnet, Mama's family, Cher, QVC") and then I started to finally look around to find the "older sister" the #1Gold Barbie. But meanwhile I had bought a rare few others of Bob's, like the stunning Queen of Hearts, also below original price of course, but because she spoke to me and I really wanted her, something I never felt about the #1Gold ... Beautiful doll, worth the price
I bought this doll as a memorial to my mother who fell in love with the first Bob Mackie design she saw and collected the Barbies until she died. She is exquisite as are all the Mackie designs. I would love to put her in the case with the rest of my mother's collection but my big problem with the doll is I CAN'T OPEN THE CASE! Each Bob Mackie design is unique so there is no way to compare the dolls.
