We bought the book because we took a trip to Bolivia and Lake Titicaca in 2006. We were fortunate to meet the Limachi brothers, who built the RA II and Tigris for the Thor Heyerdahl expeditions. At the time of our visit the Limachi brothers were building two more reed boats for a BBC documentary. It was fascinating to see how the reeds are harvested, dried, and then crafted into boats. We also visited the floating islands which are made from the same reeds. Because of this experience we just had to buy the book to read about the 8 men and the duck. It was quite interesting and we were happy to learn that their trip had a good outcome. I wonder what ever happened to the second duck - poor little guy.
