Good bottom bracket, but follow instructions!

Be sure to read the instructions from SRAM on how to install this. Particularly when and where to use spacers as SRAM and Shimano do it differently. Also, make sure your GXP crank is greased at the right spots and has any dust caps from old bottom brackets removed before you install it in the new BB. Properly installed there will likely be a small gap on the drive side, but the crank will spin easily and there will be no freeplay. I replaced a Team BB on a used bike and found a spacer where it was not needed and a crushed drive side reducer/dust cap. The previous owner had trusted a bike shop.

  • How a BB should be

Bottom brackets should be the ultimate "fire and forget" component. Install and let it do its job. I've used it primarily for cyclocross racing this season and have about 8 races on it, none of which have been muddy or wet. So I can't comment on the seal quality vs. muddy conditions. But so far, it's worked like a charm. Smooth and trouble free. I recommend for your SRAM crankset.

  • Truvativ GXP - that's all you need to know

It just works. The bottom bracket & crankset is one of the areas of the bike where the component manufacturers just refuse to agree on a standard (open bearing square taper and ISIS are long dead and good riddance). So, the different tribes have all pushed their particular crankset system. In my experience, Truvative/SRAM has the most versatile options with their GXP designs. They are lighter, just as durable, and as trouble free as anything else on the market -- and without the ridiculous pricing that some manufacturers attempt to pass on. As with any structural part, you gotta install it properly, but the GXP is quiet and solid, and it will give you plenty of warning if you didn't torque it properly. Easy field adjustment if ever that happened. Shimano's external pinch bolt, well ...

  • SMOOTH!

Bought this to go with GX Crankset I put on my MTB. PROs: 1) Light 2) Well Made 3) Easy to Install 4) Bearings are buttery smooth...smoother than the M8000 XTR BB/crank I replaced it with 5) Good value No CONs I could think of at this time. Only disappointment is that one was not included with the crankset.

  • Foolproof replacement BB for Truvativ crankset.

You don't have to worry about a thing when you use these. Swapping them out couldn't be easier. Crank slides right in with no slop, no play, perfect fit, and good seals. They're tough, light and cheap. Why take a chance on something that 'might' fit?
