    Good receiver- works ok .

This Pioneer receiver works " OK " and sounds good . The only issue with it is that you need the original remote to finish the final Surround set-up ( surround test signal - each surround speaker volume control - sub-woofer set-up - etc. ) This can't be done from the front panel of the receiver . All Pioneer VSX model receivers are this way. That was my reason for buying this receiver - it didn't come with a remote but I already had the original Pioneer remote for it.

  • Pioneer VSXD411, my receiver for 17 years.

I have been running on this receiver since 2003, so I like to think I have more continual experience with it than most. Currently, it is hooked up to 2 big Yamaha towers (that I've also had for 17 years), a JBL center speaker I recently bought, and 2 Yamaha surrounds that I also recently bought, and it is honestly amazing how well this old girl is able to drive all of these. This receiver's main drawback has always been a relative lack of features compared to more expensive models of its day. The sound is great, however, especially in 5-channel stereo mode. And seeing as how I've logged countless thousands of hours of music, games and movies on it, the reliability here is pretty awesome. I just got a decent deal on a high-end Anthem receiver and will finally be replacing the D411 once it ...

  • Excellent 5.1 receiver!

I bought this receiver as a main component in my home theater. I have always liked the Pioneer line of products and this older receiver didn't disappoint. The built in audio processor works flawlessly on all sources, even standard broadcast tv. Connections were simple and plentiful with my only issues being it's too old for HDMI so you'll need HDMI to coaxial or Toslink in order to connect the digital audio stream of HDMI to it. This unit easily outperforms my much pricier RCA home theater system in my living room. I highly recommend this receiver to anyone looking for ample 5.1 surround sound at a great price.

  • Great Buy!

I have one just like this, same immaculate condition, perfect working order. I am happy. I will now listen to the Rolling Stones at 100w, and not the neighbors dogs serenading our home.

  • NOT --Pioneer's finest moment--- a real CLUNKER--AVOID

Purchased as a cheap way to put sound in my L/R-- as my vintage component amp/tuner finally died.---wasnt long before I discovered how 'below-average' this thing really is.--looks kind-of nice, but sounds like a lightweight. Pioneer claims 100/wpc...REALLY!?!?!--weak,flabby bass, vacant sounding mids, and shrill, tinny highs.-I mean NO headroom!((no muscle under-the-hood!)) my 2-channel little 80-wpc. HK blows this tin-box away EASILY!--if I had to guess, I would give it 35-45 watts/p.c. AT the MOST, and it gets VERY VERY warm trying to do even that.and i LOVE my other pioneer gear.
